CTLE hours are a requirement when it comes to maintaining our teaching license. We must earn 100 CTLE hours every five years after receiving our Professional Certificate. If you still have your Initial Certificate, you do not need CTLE hours. You should apply for your Professional Certificate on the TEACH website once you earn your master’s degree and after you have three years of teaching experience.
Here are some approved websites that offer free CTLE credits. You must register on each of these websites to access the CTLE courses.
edWeb (https://home.edweb.net) - Most likely the best option for CTLE hours. Offers tons of free CTLE courses. You can leave the videos playing in the background and open new tabs to do whatever you want. Four question quiz and PD plan after each webinar. Your CTLE credits are posted within 2 business days on your edWeb transcript. Keeps track of your completed credits.
OTIS (https://otis.teq.com) - Offers lots of free CTLE credits. Asynchronous available. Will send you certificates crediting you with 45 minutes or an hour for many courses. Unlike edWeb where you can open new tabs while the video is playing, if you leave the OTIS website, the video will automatically stop. Like edWeb, OTIS keeps a record of your hours should you ever need to access them again. Certificate available to download immediately upon completion.
SOLVED Consulting (https://www.solvedconsulting.com) - Used to offer up to 36 free CTLE credits. It does not appear as though they still do, although they do have eight hours worth of free courses. Asynchronous available. You can FLY through these courses. Some don’t even require you to complete a quiz. The ones that do have a quiz ask approximately 3-4 questions, which you can likely guess without watching the video. Will send you one-hour certificates for each course regardless of how long they actually take (they’re usually much shorter). You can download your certificate immediately upon completion of each quiz.
